At LPS Industries, we spend a lot of time and resources improving our environmental footprint. We are concerned about the impact our business has on the world in which we all live. We do not pretend that our company's changes will save the planet alone, but we know that we must contribute as much as possible to the common effort.
Our work for a cleaner environment has been noticed. On April 19, 2024, our CEO Madeleine D. Robinson, on behalf of the entire company, accepted an Environmental Award from the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey for its efforts in continuing to maintain solar panel energy generation and new LED lighting for its facility.
The solar panel project has been quite a success since we installed it in 2010. It is a 3,500-panel, multiple inverter rooftop system producing in excess of 700,000 DC-rated watts. The system provides approximately 30% of the company’s facility and processes electrical energy.
This year, we removed over 1,100 fluorescent light fixtures in our manufacturing and corporate office space, replacing them with state-of-the-art LED fixtures. LED lights are up to 80% more efficient than fluorescent, converting 95% of their energy into light and only 5% to heat. This type of lighting has boosted employee morale as the LEDs provide brighter and more focused light at the employee’s workstations and offices.
Other conservation efforts include saving 200,000 gallons of water per month by inspecting all incoming water lines and either turning off unused lines or working to control usage in active lines better. We also have active recycling arrangements for all wood-based products, e.g., pallets, paper, cardboard, and corrugated.
Paul Harencak, VP of Business Development & Technical Services, said when we received the award for the LED light fixtures, “LPS Industries, throughout its 65-year history, has consistently endeavored to be a leader in sustainability not only for itself but also for its customers by developing environmentally friendly packaging products. Today’s commitment and investment in sustainability will result in a healthier tomorrow for all.”
Our commitment to sustainability is unwavering and will continue to guide our actions in the future.
